Campfire and closing ceremony was held at the newly built fireplace, built by the participants of the 1st Euro-Mini-Jam! No-one escaped dry from the ceremony either since all the tears when we realized that the camp was over was much greater then the total rain over the jamboree.

Excellent week over for both participants, staff and planning team. Thank you all for wonderful time!

Today the camp woke up full of energy in order to solve the challenges ahead. Uncertain about the exact details of the problems they went ahead with unclear ideas given by the planning team beforehand. As some of the teams had held preparation meetings and camps this summer it was obvious that may teams had benefitted from that preparation. The results will be announced on the closing ceremony tomorrow.

During the evening participant got a taste of Iceland’s culture and traditions at the host night. Food, ceremonies, clothing, equipment, saga  and lifestyle was introduced.

Euro-Mini-Jam continues to be a successful and joyful camp although a little rain finally showed up at the campsite today.

Bragi Björsson, chief scout of Iceland, joined the evening camp fire and sang along. He emphasized i his short speech the pioneering work being done here in Iceland and his hopes that this will be an event lasting for decades.

As patrols did great but one patrol did exceptionally well and will be the scout decathlon winning team for the next three years until 2^nd Euro-Mini-Jam 2013 in Liechtenstein.

The Golden Jaguars

congratulations! You really showed remarkable scouting skills. The golden jaguars finished with 967 points. Second place was “The Fat Pigs” with 960 points.

After a fresh swim, juice and snack the participants continued to community service where a fire-pit was made. As expected some of the participants were a little tired, but were happy and smiling. In the evening all the participants presented their countries and ended the night with dance!

Truly a wonderful time here at lake Ulfljotsvatn. Thursday will be a problem solving day in the international patrols – the Decathlon day!

From the hike

After finalizing their pioneering work at the campsite on Tuesday morning the Euro-Mini-Jam prepared for the 24-hour hike over the mountains in the area. The international patrols went together at 10 minutes interval after an equipment check by the leaders. Each patrol got a different hiking route with checkpoints in between.

Although one patrol learned that it is necessary to actually don’t loose their map everything went well and everybody arrived safely at Álftatjörn around dinner time. After dinner the patrols hiked to Reykjadalur where a campfire was lit and a bath taken in a natural warm spring.
